The Scottish Government has introduced major changes into the Scottish statutory Development Planning system. Under the terms of the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006 and the new statutory basis for development planning which that Act introduced into the Town and Country Planning (Scotland ) Act 1997, the previous generation of development plans – structure and local plans - are to be replaced. The new system will introduce Strategic Development Plans (SDP) and Local Development Plans (LDP) for the four Scottish city-regions and LDPs for all areas outwith the city-regions.
The Scottish Government formally launched the new system on the 28 February 2009 with the introduction of the Town and Country Planning (Development Planning) (Scotland) Regulations 2008.
Under this body of legislation and regulations, in the metropolitan city-region of Glasgow, the Glasgow and the Clyde Valley Strategic Development Planning Authority (GCVSDPA) will take over the responsibility of preparing the new plans from its predecessor body, the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan Joint Committee (GCVSPJC). The GCVSDPA will continue to comprise the eight metropolitan Local Authorities.
The GCVSDPA will be developing this new website to provide maximum transparency and accessibility to the strategic development planning process for its stakeholders. It will take a little time to develop the new site to be fit-for-purpose under the new legislation and in the meantime, for all strategic development planning issues, you will be re-directed to the predecessor GCVSPJC’s website.
