Executive Team Officers

The team is the standing professional staff of the Joint Committee whose role is to co-ordinate and integrate the planning work of the constituent Authorities in terms of planning studies, formulating and monitoring long-term Planning Strategies and supporting Policies, and providing support to the Authorities on all aspects of Strategic Development Planning.

The primary role of the Team is the production of the Authorities’ joint statutory strategic development plan – under current legislation, the Structure Plan.

Under the new Planning Act, expected to be enacted in 2008, the primary product will be the Strategic Development Plan.

A further major role relates to the liaison, co-ordination and integration of the Joint Committee’s external partners into the process of Strategy development, in fulfilment of the Joint Committee’s aim of an inclusive strategic planning process.

The Team also provides advice on the structure planning implications of government policy, other statutory plans and major development proposals.
